Case Study – Digicel Birthday Club
Digicel Group is the fastest growing mobile phone provider in the Caribbean. Jamaica is their base of operations, was their point of entry into the Caribbean market and where they are the market leader with just over a million subscribers. The subscriber base is primarily a prepaid market. This means subscribers do not have to submit personal when buying a phone. We created a text to win competition that would engage the subscribers and entice them to part with their birth date as part of the entry requirements.

How it works
The Birthday Club was created as another product for the company but served as unique ay of getting valuable personal data from subscribers- birth date. Every month 5 customers had a chance to win a birthday package consisting of 5,000 credit, a cellphone, $5,000 worth of cash for their birthday bash. They entered as many times as they wanted by texting in their birthday to a designated 444-XXXX number.

Results:
Over 70,000 people joined the club and Digicel in addition to further consolidating their brand in the market, got valuable data which now informs aspects of consumer marketing campaigns.
